St Mary Magdalene's Church in Launceston will again be holding their very popular Festival Nativity Cribs and Christmas Trees for the ninth consecutive year. The Festival will be opened by the Mayor Councillor Margaret Young & Mayoress Nicola Gilbert on Friday 30th November to coincide with the Late Night Shopping Evening and continue up until Sunday 9th December inclusive.
The Festival will be open on Saturday 1st December from 10am to 4.30pm and daily thereafter throughout the following week apart from Sunday 2nd and Sunday 9th December when the Church will be open from 12 noon to 4.30pm. Teas, coffees and delicious homemade cakes will be served in the choir vestry daily.
Last year there were 66 trees, 9 alternative exhibits and 17 cribs on display and this year we are expecting even more. Come along to see the wonderful displays, which have been provided by the local churches, schools, pre-schools, charities and businesses of the town and enjoy this magical pre-Christmas atmosphere.
St Mary's Choir will be singing carols during the Late Night Shopping evening, the Light Up a Life Service for Cornwall Hospice Care will be held in St Mary's at 6pm on Tuesday 4th and a Christingle Service will be held on Sunday 9th at 4pm. Guest organists will be playing at various times throughout the Festival so whenever you call in there will be plenty for you to enjoy. Admission is free but donations towards St Mary's Clock Appeal will be much appreciated.
